January 2003, Couples & Kids, as a member of the Industrial Advisory
Council, partnered with Lynchburg Community Action Group--Center for
Employment Training (LYNC-CET) to provide counselors who go on-site and
provide workshops on topics such as:
Self-Esteem
Stress
Management
Healthy
Relationships
Assertiveness
Grief/Loss
Anger
Management
Healthy
Communication
Parenting
Skills
Depression
Domestic
Violence
LYNC-CET is a community-based nonprofit organization that specializes
in providing integrated job training, remedial education, vocation English
instruction, and human development training.
All of LYNC-CET’s training is to the point, short-term and intensive.
LYNC-CET is located at: 926 Commerce Street, Lynchburg, VA .
Workshops are on-going and are held each Monday from 10:00AM—12 Noon.
Individual counseling is also provided under the supervision of Norma
S. White, Executive Director. |
Couples & Kids is fortunate
to have:
Robert Crawley,
MLA. Robert anticipates receiving his M.Ed. in agency counseling from
Lynchburg College in August of this year. He holds an M.A. from Texas
Christian University. Previously, he has held the positions of Academic
Coordinator of Students at Salisbury University and Assistant Director of
Student Services at Albertson College of Idaho.
Denise Jones,
M.Ed. Denise earned her M.Ed. at Lynchburg College. She is a guidance
counselor at Heritage Elementary and a Mental Health Counselor at Child
and Adolescent Psychiatry, Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Mark Faulconer,
MBA. Mark anticipates receiving his M.A. in Christian counseling from
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Charlotte, N.C. in December, 2003.
He holds an MBA from Lynchburg College and is a former Vice President at
Centra Health.
Rosemary Lee,
M.Ed. in Agency
Counseling. Rosemary graduates in August, 2003 from Lynchburg College. We
wish her all the best!
Couples & Kids, A Counseling Center for Families, is a non-profit
organization dedicated to serving the complex needs of Central Virginia
families through counseling services and educational programs. Since its
beginning in October 2000, Couples & Kids has served over 322
families.

Couples
& Kids is pleased to announce the receipt of a $2000 grant from Target
Stores in support of our anger management and domestic violence prevention
programs. ______________________
Did You
Know?
This
summer Couples & Kids is offering parent education classes, social
skills groups for children and support groups for children whose parents
are divorcing or incarcerated. All of these programs are being offered
free of charge. |
Couples
& Kids hosted a workshop on July 17, 2003 on filial therapy presented
by Maxine Hollinger, MA, NCC, CCMHC, CHt. The focus of the workshop was to
train therapists to train parents to be play therapists for their own
children. |
