Couples & Kids is a non-profit, family-oriented counseling center designed to address the needs of adults and children in our community who struggle with the challenges of daily living.

We specialize in improving relationships through individual, couple, and family therapy.  Counseling is provided in a confidential, family-friendly environment with an emphasis on problem solving, decision making and education.  This is a cooperative, growth-centered process which gives you the tools to continue to make positive changes in your daily life long after formal therapy is over.

We are committed to providing you with quality counseling and mental health services and look forward to making a difference in your life!

One of our specialties is Play Therapy. Couples & Kids Executive Director, Norma White, is central Virginia's only licensed Registered Play Therapist.  Norma has also been trained in clinical supervision at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and is an approved clinical supervisor for practicum and internship students, as well as Counselors In Residence.

Please also visit the Professional Development page on our website for information on upcoming seminars hosted at Couples and Kids.  For more information on additional special seminars, such as "Chill Out" which helps children and adolescents manage anger, "Absent Parents" which deals with parenting alone when you are not single, and "Parents' Night Out" which helps parents deal with angry children, please visit Upcoming Events.

Couples & Kids will also post helpful articles from time to time.  For more information on issues ranging from Teen Dating to Healthy Communication from www.WebMD.com, please visit Parenting Tips.

And please SAVE THE DATE for our upcoming fundraiser, "Derby Afternoon Soiree."  This fun event will take place on May 1 from 4:00 - 8:00 at Old Elkton Farm.  Guests will enjoy live music, delightful food, and festive beverages.  Proceeds will benefit both Couples & Kids and the Junior League of Greater Lynchburg.  Tickets are $60 and the invitation is open to all.  Reserve your tickets by calling The Junior League of Lynchburg at 434-846-6641.

Thank you to those who took part in awarding Couples & Kids recent grants: The Junior League of Lynchburg (funding for the Smart Girls program), Target, The Lynchburg Academy of Medicine, The Nelson Fund, The Elizabeth and Herbert Thomson Fund (through The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust), The Centra Health Foundation, The Bedford Community Health Foundation, Sam's Club, The Retail Merchant's Foundation, Lynchburg Academy of Medicine, Timberlake Christian Church, Kay and Helen Carpenter Fund.  These funds help with our work with the under-served and under-insured.  Special thanks to Word.
